Laboratory thermometer calibrations - LTT

Referent: Rinaldi Fabio

The Laboratory built in 1985, had until a few years ago, the main purpose of calibration activities in support to scientific research within the Department of Energy. The need to perform calibration of temperature sensors in kind by outside contractors, industry or other departments, has led the lab to operate in accordance with UNI CEI EN ISO / IEC 17025.
The Laboratory in the Calibration Center of the Polytechnic di Milan has been accredited by SIT . Accreditation SIT Calibration Service in Italy, is recognized as part of the Multilateral EA (European Accreditation) and ensures that the traceability of measurements obtained by the Calibration Center, not only nationally but also internationally, through links between the primary metrology institutes of different countries.
It was recognized at the laboratory, the ability to perform metrology calibration activities within the area with its temperature measurement range and levels of uncertainty required.
The laboratory has:
  • an environment with appropriate characteristics for preservation of samples and for carrying out the calibration;
  • samples of first line, with a documented traceability to national primary standards;
  • second line samples, such as those from the front line in accordance with procedures defined;
  • right tools to form the different chains metrological
  • specialists;
  • acquisition system to manage the bridge for the measurements of resistance and to control the stability of thermostatic baths;
  • software for data processing and certification of results.

The laboratory adheres to Technical Center Quality
